Biodiversity at Tulfarris

Tulfarris is home to Ireland's most beautiful wildlife. So why not enjoy one of our walking trails an take in these magnificent creatures. A staff favourite of these is our little family of otters named X and Y.

River otters are incredibly sensitive to pollution and mercury. If you see otters playing in a local river, it’s a high-five from mother nature—it means the water is clean and the fish population is thriving. Sea otters have a loose fold of skin under their forearms that acts like a built-in pouch. They use it to store their favorite "tool" (usually a specific rock for cracking shells) or extra food while they forage
