Ecological Assessments
Assessments are carried out between March and October each year. There is no limit on how many award categories you can enter, however each category requires its own individual assessment. Each assessment comes with a detailed scientific report of the findings, outcomes and if there are any recommendations that can be used to improve scores for next year. For example, awards such as the Dawn Chorus Symphony Award requires two assessments per year, both carried out during sunrise. Bat surveys will require habitat assessments and additionally evening surveys when bats are at peak activity. After assessments are carried out and finalised you will be assigned a score. This score is what determines your final award. The scoring system assigns higher scores to rarer species and habitats that have a high level of biodiversity. The documentation provided after each assessment can be used to support corporate sustainability documentation and ESG requirements - Read more here
Our Standards
Assessments are only carried out by active, registered members of the Chartered Institute of Ecological and Environmental Management and also the Royal Entomological Society. This ensures that our assessments are delivered to the highest standards and in line with the most modern practices.
Our awards are based on a scoring system, NOT a voting system. After we carry out an assessment, you get assigned a score based on the biodiversity we find. This is what determines your award, not a voting system where you have to beg people to vote for you, or pay money to attend an awards night, which you may not win.
We don't pit our clients against each other to see who can win like other awards groups.
The added value of our assessments
In addition to the physical assessment. All of our clients get:
A detailed scientific report of our findings. This scientific report can be used in environmental documentation to aid your Environmental Social Governance (ESG). The report will also include a full species list, detailed findings on how they are using your site, and the rarity of these species.
A dedicated nature page is also designed in house by us for your website. This page is done to show off all the work you are doing for nature, and highlights the important species we find. This page is extremely valuable at setting your business apart from competitors and helps your customers make informed decisions to support sustainable companies that support nature.
Our clients also get access to a green circular economy by supporting each other and giving business to each other. In other words, all our clients care about sustainability, biodiversity, and nature, and thus want to give, and take business from companies like them who care about nature and are making efforts to be more sustainable.
Professional photography forms part of the assessment as this aids species identification. These photographs can be made available (free of charge) to our clients to show off the different species they are helping. As part of our service we also write up tailored social media content for your marketing team so they can explain the importance of our biodiversity findings in a short and simple way for social media. One of our pollinator surveys can potentially produce a years worth of social media content.
