As head of the Irish Nature Awards, Noel bringing hands-on ecological and fieldwork experience to the platform. A Zoology graduate from the University of Galway, Noel’s thesis looked into bat population distributions, and habitat associations for an area in the west of Ireland, this research in bat ecology transitioned into a professional, working as a bat ecologist for MKO.
Currently serving as a Biodiversity Officer for C&F Tooling in Athenry, and Freelance Ecologist for clients such as Galway County Council, Noel has a diverse environmental background that even includes volunteering with loggerhead turtle conservation in Greece. He holds a special interest in Entomology and is an active member of the Royal Entomological Society, as well as the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). Through the Irish Nature Awards, Noel champions local biodiversity and recognizes those making a tangible difference in Ireland's natural environment. Noel has also worked as a parasitologist for Teagasc which tied perfectly into his heritage growing up as a Farmer.
